Summary

eRecht24 GmbH & Co. KG in Berlin, founded in the 1990s by lawyer Sören Siebert, is a German platform for legal texts and website compliance. Free generators produce an imprint (Impressum) and a privacy policy; a free website scanner reads the page source for tools and plugins that need consent and checks whether the privacy policy is current. Further free tools check Google Fonts, the withdrawal button and accessibility against WCAG. Premium membership starts at €15 per month (Basic, shown as a 50% discount tied to annual payment) and adds a consent tool, five projects, an update service and partner seals.

Best for: German website operators who need imprint, privacy policy and terms texts under German law plus a quick free scan.

In detail

eRecht24 is run by eRecht24 GmbH & Co. KG in Berlin and was founded in the 1990s by the lawyer Sören Siebert. It is best known in Germany for its free imprint (Impressum) and privacy policy generators, which work anonymously and produce PDF and HTML output; English versions are part of the paid membership.

The free Website Scanner reads the source code of a page and reports which critical tools and plugins are embedded, whether they need consent and whether the privacy policy is up to date. It works by recognising keywords, and the vendor's FAQ names tools that can cause false positives, such as Matomo, PayPal or Vimeo. The scanner page does not describe checks of the imprint, HTTPS or a cookie inventory. Other free tools check Google Fonts, the statutory withdrawal button and AI use, and a WCAG-oriented accessibility scanner sends its report after an e-mail address is entered.

Premium membership adds a consent tool, a project manager with step-by-step guides, an update service that reports legal changes and partner seals for websites and social media. Basic includes five projects and 125,000 consent-tool sessions per month per project. The Business tier adds a terms and conditions generator, protection against cease-and-desist letters (Abmahnschutz), a first consultation with a lawyer and an accessibility statement generator; Enterprise and Ultimate add lawyer hours and an external data protection officer.

The membership page shows Basic at €15 per month, Business €40, Enterprise €90 and Ultimate €800, each as a 50% discount against a struck-through price and linked to annual payment; it gives no VAT statement and contradicts itself on whether Basic includes Abmahnschutz. Monthly memberships renew month by month and can be cancelled at any time. There is no published free trial. The service is built for German law and is available in German.

Verdict

For German websites eRecht24 is a practical toolbox: free imprint and privacy texts, several quick free checks and legal help in higher tiers. Outside Germany it is of little use, and its keyword-based scanner offers less evidence per result than browser-based checkers.
