CookieFirst review

CookieFirst was founded in the Netherlands in 2019 by Kees and Tom van den Bos and is run by Digital Data Solutions B.V. in Amsterdam. In January 2025 it was acquired by iubenda, part of the team.blue group; CookieFirst says no features were removed.

The product is a consent management platform. Its scanner finds first-, second- and third-party cookies and local-storage items, classifies them as necessary or removable and updates the cookie table after each scan; paid plans scan every month. Scripts can be blocked until consent. The cookie policy is generated and kept up to date automatically. Consents are stored in an anonymous, encrypted database; consent audit trails and IAB TCF 2.2 are part of the Plus plan. CookieFirst is a Google Certified CMP partner. Its support centre lists 44 banner languages, although other pages give different counts.

CookieFirst does not offer a public URL scanner: scans run inside an account. It does not generate or check privacy policies, imprints or terms and does not check accessibility or e-shop duties.

Prices are published on the homepage, excl. VAT, per domain. Free: €0 a month with one third-party script, the banner only, a one-time scan and one language. Basic: €9 a month or €99 a year, with all third-party scripts, monthly scans, multiple languages, a white-label banner and consent statistics. Plus: €19 a month or €209 a year, adding audit trails, IAB TCF 2.2 and faster support. Enterprise is offered on application. All plans have a soft limit of 250,000 page views per domain per month. Paid plans can be tried for 14 days, and annual plans include one free month.
